Twelve plant-based shades that cover gray completely — using henna and indigo instead of ammonia, peroxide, or PPD.

This is our best-selling kit, and it works the way botanical color actually works: in two steps. Step one lays down a henna base that grips your gray. Step two deposits your chosen shade on top of it. Skipping step one is the single reason people say plant dye "didn't take" on their gray — so we walk you through both.

Choose your shade

Black · Rich Dark Brown · Brown · Medium Brown · Light Brown · Chestnut · Mahogany · Auburn · Burgundy · Wine Red · Natural Red · Orange Red

How much do I need?

  • Roots and touch-ups — 1 kit, every 3–4 weeks
  • Short hair, chin length or above — 1 kit per full application
  • Shoulder length — 2 kits per full application
  • Long or thick hair, past the shoulders — 3 kits, or switch to our 400g Mix

Mostly or fully gray? Use one extra kit than the guide above. Gray hair has no pigment of its own, so it needs more dye to reach the same depth.

What to expect on gray

Gray strands take color differently from pigmented hair — they often come out one shade brighter and warmer for the first few days, then settle and deepen over about 48–72 hours as the henna oxidizes. That settling is normal and it is not a mistake you made. Color holds through washing for roughly 4–6 weeks; it fades gradually rather than growing out in a hard line.

How to use it

  1. Step 1 — Pure Henna base. Mix to a yogurt-thick paste with warm water. Apply to clean, dry hair. Leave 1–2 hours. Rinse with water only — no shampoo.
  2. Step 2 — Your shade. Mix, apply, leave 1 hour, rinse with water only. Wait 24–48 hours before your next shampoo so the color can set.
